Old Forge Studio is a dual purpose space; originally intended to be a small recording studio in the forge outbuilding at the Velvet Mill in Stonington, its raison d’ĂȘtre expanded to include an audio shop as well, requiring a re-think and relocation – now COMPLETE – to the location below – the Packer Building at 12 Roosevelt Avenue, Mystic, CT.

Falcon Audio LS3/5a sit atop Auditorium 23 Hommage 755, (before the Falcon stands were delivered!), Leben CS600 integrated amp, Sugden A21SE integrated amp, Sony PlayStation 1, Shindo Aurieges pre-amp and Montille CV391 stretch to fill out functionality while waiting for AcousticPlan CD transport and Box Furniture rack to be delivered. (Now all in-house and on-demo.)

The view recently at the speaker end of the brick front listening area. Auditorium 23 Hommage Cinema flank Line Magnetic’s tungar field coil power supplies and the Acoustic Plan solid state field coil PS.

The recording nerve center (T-B): – DWFearn stereo tube mic pre-amp – 2 Tree Audio Branch II tube mic pre-amps – Tree Audio Stem 8 channel mixer – Mara Machine (MCI) recording electronics – Tascam DA3000 digital recorder – Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt – MARA half inch, 2 track R-R tape deck out of view.

A German cherry forest: Auditorium 23 Hommage a Ken loudspeakers flanking and a ToneApparate rack which houses, top to bottom, L-R: AcousticPlan CD transport and DAC, JC Verdier La Platine Nouvelle turntable with EMT 997 tonearm, EMT TSD 75 cartridge, Shindo Aurienges, Shindo Monbrison, Shindo Montille CV391 stereo amp, Mr T, Shindo Cortese F2A stereo amp.
Secondary listening area
The second listening area, where you can audition DeVore Fidelity Orangutan 93 and 96, Falcon Audio LS3/5a, Rethm Bhaava speakers and Sugden and Leben electronics. Also shown, a PTP Solid 12+9 ‘table with Schick arm and Denon/Midas 103. The PTP has been replaced with the JC Verdier La Nouvelle Platine, EMT 997 arm and EMT TSD-75 cartridge.
